Fourth Week of April 2012

Back in the swing of things...

This week we were introduced to the letter Ww and did plenty of activities.  Below are the letter books we did.

Older Children Letter Ww Book
We started with the cover in which we colored the letter Ww and colored the wagon.
On the left we did our three piece letter puzzles and we did a pre-writing activity.  On the right we found the one that is different and drew lines from the wagons to the letter Ww's from Getting Ready for the Code Series.

On the left we listened to clues to find the picture and then followed directions to color the picture from Getting Ready for the Code Series.  We traced letter Ww's.  On the right we used Confessions of a Homeschooler's Letter Hunt to find Ww's.
On the left we drew lines from the "w" to words that began with the /w/ sound and we traced/printed letter W's.  On the right we circled the letter that each picture began with and traced/printed letter w's.

On the left we said the picture name, circled the letter and printed the letter and traced/printed letter Ww's.  On the right we wrote the letter each picture word began with and traced/printed letter Ww's.

On the left we colored pictures green that began with the /w/ sound and orange if they didn't. On the left we cut and pasted pictures and put the w pictures in one column and the l pictures in another column.  Both of these activities are from First Phonics.  We then traced/printed letter Ww's.

Tot Letter Ww Book
On the cover we used Confessions of a Homeschooler's page using dot markers to make the letter W.

On the left put together watermelon puzzles in which we matched shapes from Confessions of a Homeschooler.  On the right we colored a window from 1+1+1=1.

On the left we matched the letters to spell watermelon from Confessions of a Homeschooler.  On the right we found pictures using clues and then colored them according to directions from 1=1+1=1.

On the left we colored windows according to the colored color word and on the right we found letter Ww's in the window.  Both of these are from 1+1+1=1.

On the left we did a pre-writing activity and on the right we matched colored pictures to the grayscale picture.  Both are from 1+1+1=1.
We talked about Earth Day and the importance of taking care of the Earth.
We colored and made a four-piece Earth Day puzzle.

We talked about the pet turtle.
We made a turtle by...
painting a small paper plate green

And then we glued our paper plate to a turtle pattern and added green glitter glue to the plate (shell) and we ended up with wonderful turtles.

We also made a home for a pet turtle by doing a crayon resist... colored the tree, tutle and sand with crayon and then painted the water blue with waterpaints.  Once dry we added rough paper for the shell and some colored paper pieces to add color to the sand.

 We talked about our senses.

We made a picture of our eye.

We dictated and illustrated what we like to see with our eyes.

We also did the other senses but I forgot to take pictures... sorry!

We talked about worms.
We sang "Herman the Worm" and we saw a powerpoint about worms.  The children we fascinated but unfortunetly I don't know how I aquired the powerpoint so I can't share.

We colored the background with crayon and fingerpainted a worm.

We finished by using yarn segments.

Lastly we did some worm math.  I got these over at Learn and Grow Etsy Store.

Well I've finished up April and found that a lot of pictures went missing after going back through my lesson plans.  Hmmmm.  No idea where they went.  Hope this gave you a pretty good overlook at some of the fun we had.

Best,
Rose
