Second and Third Week of April 2012

We didn't do much the second week of April and picked back up some on the third week so I combined them into one post.

Here is what we did...

We were introduced to the letter Vv in these weeks.  We did many activities and our letter Vv books... both a tot book and an older child book.  Here are pictures of our Letter Vv books.

Older Children Letter Vv Book
This is the cover and we colored the letter Vv and the van.

On the left we put together our three piece letter puzzles and colored vases that had the letter Vv in them.  On the right we found the one that was different and drew lines from vases to the letter Vv both from Getting Ready for the Code Series.

On the left we listened to clues to find the picture and colored them according to directions and we did a pre-writing activity both from Getting Ready for the Code Series.  On the right we found letter Vv's in the letter hunt from Confessions of a Homeschooler.

On the left we said the picture name and circled the letter that we heard at the beginning of the picture word from Getting Ready for the Code Series and we traced letter V's.  On the right we said the picture names and colored and printed v's for all the pictures that began with the /v/ sound and we traced letter v's.

On the left we drew lines from the pictures to the letters it began with from Getting Ready for the Code Series and we traced/printed letter V's.  On the right we circled the letter the picture in the center of each triangle began with from Getting Ready for the Code series and we traced/printed letter v's.

On the left we said the name of the picture sound, circled the letter it began with and printed the letter we circled and we traced/printed letter Vv's.  On the right we said each picture name and printed the letter the picture began with.

Tot Letter Vv Book
This is the cover and we used dot markers to fill in the letter Vv's.

On the left we colored volcanoes the color indicated by colored color words and on the right we colored a volcano both from 1+1+1=1.

On the left we used clues to find the pictures and colored them according to directions.  On the right we matched shapes.  All these activities are from 1+1+1=1.

On the left we found letter Vv's in the volcano and on the right we did a pre-writing activity all from 1+1+1=1.

Here we matched grayscale pictures to color pictures from 1+1+1=1.

We talked about Gary the Gardener and some vehicles he uses when he gardens.

We had fun making tractors and playing with them.

We had fun making 16 wheelers to carry the produce to the store and playing with them.

And we sorted vegetables and fruits to know what truck to put each in.

As I said.  Not a whole lot this week although it seemed as though we were plenty busy.
Hope to see you back for next week.
Best,
Rose

  1. Thanks for sharing the letter V activities. I plan on using the Get Ready series next year with my Pre-Ker. I like the idea of letter books like this...I may have to come up with something similar for my sweeties.

    1. Thanks. I've been doing them a couple years and my families love them and save them to go back and review.
