Fourth Week in February 2012

Trying to get caught up today...  so I've posted twice.

Here is what we did this week...
We learned about the letter Rr and did our letter books.  I did both a Preschool and Tot version to the book.

This is our Preschool Letter Rr Book
On our cover we colored the letter Rr and the rabbit.

On the left we put together three piece puzzles of Rr and colored the rabbits that had an Rr
on them.  On the right we found the one that was different and did a pre-writing activity.

On the left we colored the spaces on the rocket that had a letter Rr and we circled the letters
in the row that were the same as the first letter in the box.  On the right we did a letter hunt from
Confessions of a Homeschooler.

On the left we found Rr pictures through clues and then followed directions to color them and then
we traced letter R.  On the right we colored the picture in each box that began with the /r/ sound
and traced r.

On the left we circled the letter that each picture began with and traced/printed letter R's.  On the right
we colored the pictures that began with the /r/ sound and printed r's on the line below the picture
and we traced/printed letter r.

On the left we drew lines from pictures to the letter that makes its beginning sound and we circled and printed the letter that is the beginning picture sound.  On the right we printed the letter that makes each
pictures beginning sound and we traced/printed Rr's.

We used dot markers to make letter Rr's from Confessions of a Homeschooler.

We colored a rain forest from 1+1+1=1.

We found pictures that began with Rr and colored them according to directions from

We found the letter Rr's in the picture from 1+1+1=1.

We did a pre-writing activity from 1+1+1=1.

And we did a picture matching from 1+1+1=1.

For President's Day we talked about George Washington.

We talked about George Washington as we did this paper piecing as we glued facts
onto the page.

We heard the story of George cutting down the cherry tree and made cherry trees.

We talked about the occupation of being a carpenter.

We matched tools.

We made houses out of popsicle sticks.  We decorated them too, but I forgot
to get pictures.

We talked about the occupation of a florist.

We waterpainted flowers.

We made these toilet tube flowers.  You can find the directions here.

We talked about the occupation of a mail carrier.

Here are a mail carriers wearing their hats.

 We made mail trucks.

And we sequenced a "mail" story.

Our last two activities were math activities.

We cut out ten dimes and practiced tracing the number 10.  We also counted
