First week of March 2012

I know it's a little late but here we go...

The first week of March we were introduced to the letter Ss.  As I have been doing we did a older children letter book and a tot letter book for my younger children.  Below is what our letter books looked like.

Letter Ss Book

This is the cover of our Ss Book.  We colored the Ss's and the sun.

On the left we put together our three piece letter puzzles and colored a sun by using
yellow for uppercase S and orange for lowercase s.  On the right we used Getting Ready
for the Code series to find the one that is different and some pre-writing practice.

On the left we colored the parts of a sock that had a Ss in it and we circled the letters that
are like the one in the first box.  We also used Confessions of a Homeschoolers letter hunt for
letter Ss.

On the left we colored pictures by listening to the clues to find the picture and following the
directions to color the pictures.  We also traced letter S's.  On the right we circled the letter
that the picture began with and we traced letter s's.

On the left we drew lines from the picture to the letter on the line and we printed the
letter each picture began with from Getting Ready for the Code series.  On the right
we found the picture that begins with the first letter and colored it and we traced/printed
letter Ss's.

On the left we said the picture name, circled the letter it began with, and printed the letter.  We
also traced and printed letter S.  On the right we said the picture name and printed the
letter the picture began with.  We also traced/printed the letter s.

Tot Letter Ss Book

We used dot markers to make the letter Ss from Confessions of a Homeschooler
Letter of the Week series.

We matched letters to spell the word snowman also from Confessions of a Homeschool
Letter of the Week series.

We found pictures and colored them according to direction and colored the
letter Ss's from 1+1+1=1 tot printables.

We found letter Ss's in a star from 1+1+1=1 tot printables.

We traced letter Ss from Confessions of a Homeschooler Letter of the Week series.

We did a pre-writing activity from 1+1+1=1 tot printables.

We matched pictures that were grayscale under and glued colored on top from
1+1+1=1 tot printables.

We talked about how March comes in like a lion and out like a lamb.  We made the following lion/lamb project.

We met Rhonda Reporter and talked about the job of a reporter.  We used Rhonda through the month to teach other skills and concepts.
This is Rhonda Reporter puppet which I got from High Reach Curriculum.

We made reporter hats and microphones and pretended to be
reporters.

We also made reporter helicopters.  I forgot to take a picture of the final project but we
had fun playing with these.

Rhonda did a news story on pets and we talked about and made a dog and a cat.

And that was our week.  Hope you enjoyed it.
Best,
Rose
